Media Employer of the Year 2017
This year the Angela Mortimer Group celebrates its 40th anniversary. A significant achievement for a business still privately owned. Pathfinders, the media recruitment arm of Angela Mortimer is the longest standing subsidiary business of the group and this year celebrates a significant milestone: the 20th anniversary of the Media Employer of the Year awards.
MEOY is the UK’s only annual award to recognise media companies’ ability to inspire and develop their staff and this year Pathfinders’ will be acknowledging those achievements in a special 40th/ 20th anniversary awards ceremony in an exciting West End venue on Wednesday, 22nd February.
At Pathfinders we regularly survey our candidates on what they look for in a potential employer and the responses always lead to the same conclusions: employees are excited by prospects, training and opportunities for progression. Thus in a regularly changing employment market we feel it more appropriate than ever to be highlighting shining examples of employers’ progressive treatment of their staff.
Planning for MEOY begun six months ago and the nomination process has resulted in numerous exciting conversations between Pathfinders and a number of progressive London based media companies. With six weeks to go until the ceremony the nominations are in the process of being whittled down to an outstanding shortlist of six. These will be reviewed by an independent judging panel that have been charged with paying particular attention to the methodology of attracting and retaining talent, training, appraisals and company culture.
It’s all well and good us waxing lyrical about the benefits of receiving our award. So we decided to speak to a previous winner in search of greater validation. PHA Media, and more specifically, Lucy Gilmore, were more than happy to help out and share with us the importance of being recognised as Media Employer of the Year:
We are very proud to have won the Pathfinders Media Employer of the Year award and grateful for the gravitas that having such a prestigious accolade has given us. We are an entrepreneurial, news driven agency and we invest heavily in the career development of our people. Everyone at PHA has a real love and genuine passion for the work they do, and we are thrilled to be able to be recognised for our engaging and supportive culture through this award. Our recruitment process has benefited greatly from the positive message and recommendation that being Media Employer of the Year provides. We confidently promote our creative culture, supportive team and rewarding benefits package knowing that this has been recognised by a reputable industry expert.
High praise indeed. Exactly the sort of message we hope to be receiving from a previous winner.
We are more than confident that the recipient of the 2017 Media Employer of the Year award will benefit similarly, both in regard to the internal feel good an award such as MEOY provides as well as the positive impact it can have on an employer’s recruitment process.
It’s unfortunately too late to nominate for this year’s award but not to apply to attend. If the MEOY awards ceremony on Wednesday, 22nd February is of interest then please register your interest with Ellie Chalk or Vilde Lien on firstname.lastname@example.org.
